I think cheap mics work just fine for quiz show and interview participants. Don't let that scare anyone away.

Found out that it wasn't my mic at all - A chunk of ice hit my cable. Split open the shielding and allowed moisture in - I was losing up to 90% of packets. Wasn't bad enough to interfere with my TV. Was really bad here a couple days ago when it was warmer.
